Thumbs down RO/DI top off water

Hello! I read that it is not a good idea to supply top off water directly from my RO/DI because it will cause chemistry spikes in my aquarium water. Is this true? Is there a workaround?

I have a 150 g w/ 3 250 w mh. In the process of installing a RO/DI and looking for a Calc Generator. After doing so, I will be adding corals to my current fish only reef tank.

Thanks!

Re: RO/DI top off water

Some people do hook it directly up to thier sump. The only negative I've read is the constant on/off of the system is not good for the RO membrane. I have a 15 gal bucket that is attached to the sump and tops off the water level via a Tunze top off system. My RO/DI is attached to a 25 gal drum.
HTH

P.S. to Reef Sanctuary!!!
