Re: Hello All

Thanks for the encouragement guys. JK, I wish I had more pics...no more progress as of yet. I did take some preliminary measurements for the suspended rack that will hold the light mover, but I haven't finalized on a design yet. I'm hoping to get most of that done this week. Then once I get the light system up I can set the tank into position on the stand.
I'll be sure to post pics when I have something worth posting LOL.

Re: Hello All

Woodstock, you're welcome anytime. My wife and I (and our two babies) are here usually on the weekends, unless we travel up to Chapel Hill to visit family.

Re: Hello All

OK, got a little update.
I've finally got some water in the new prop tank...got the salt mixing now. I've done most of the plumbing, the rest will be completed soon. I've finished building the suspended rack that will hold my lighting, and I've temporarily installed my new Tunze streams into the tank to help mix the salt in. THESE PUMPS ROCK. I'm waiting on a last-minute order from Marine Depot to arrive with the last few parts, and we'll be fully operational very soon!
I hope to have some living corals in the tank within a week. Can't wait!

Re: Hello All

The two braces aren't even a factor. This tank is so rigid I don't see any flexing at all as of yet. The tank isn't quite full yet...I'll get the last of the bulkheads tomorrow so I'll be able to complete the plumbing and fill it all the way up. I don't see any problems at all, though...I don't think the braces will even be tested, because the tank isn't bowing any so far.

Re: Hello All

Your Paps are adorable! I love those dogs!
Your frag tank is looking good!

I think I see a Flame Hawk...how is he for the aquarium? I saw one at the LFS that I thought was intersting. I've heard that you shouldn't keep them with small shrimp but, is it ok with larger ones?

Re: Hello All

Hey Gina,
Thanks for the compliments...I'm very proud of the dogs (and the frag tank LOL)
I absolutely LOVE my flame hawk...I have a long-nosed hawk too...he's in the same pic...
My hawk is a model citizen...I have seen some hawks pick on inverts pretty bad, but mine seems to be OK. I would recommend to try to find a smaller one if you can, so maybe he won't be so prone to attacking shrimp, etc.
These fish have the greatest personalities; they just perch on the rocks/corals and look at you with those googly eyes!

Re: Hello All

Oh yeah, and I'd definitely try to add ANY shrimp to the tank BEFORE the hawkfish, this way he might not mistake the new addition as dinner.
