Hiya All!

Hi Everyone,
Thought I'd just pop in and say hello (and thanks for a great forum!)
Yet another Brit here (how many ya got?
I'm fairly new to all this - had a reef tank running for 6 months now.
It's an Aquamedic Chromis Cube (22 inches square, 150 litres) - I reckoned that's a reasonable compromise between size and price!
Comes with a Biostar Flotor skimmer and 150W Aqualine halide (14000k).
I did a LOT of reading before setting up and it's definately the best advice you can give to newbies.
Put about 18kg of living rock in then over the 6 months I've gradually added red & blue hermits, Turbos, 2 cleaner shrimps, 2 Perculas, one Royal Gramma (that'll be it for fish so as not to overdo the bioload).
For corals, I've tried to keep to the 'easy' ones - Sinularia, Cladiella, Euphyllia and Xenia.
Everything seems to be going (surprisingly!) well.
Fish & corals all growing, no algal blooms - just a little bit of cyano.
Did get a plague of the red/brown flatworms for a while after 3 months but just left it alone and they virtually disappeared after a month or so.
Only problem is the Xenia - it's slowly, but definately disappearing, bit by bit.
Seems strange when everything else is doing so well but it seems that they either grow like weeds or just die on you.
Not running anything for phosphate and no carbon (still debating whether to run carbon)
I've put a few piccys in the photo gallery

Smell ya later,

Jeff

I have the exact opposite my Xenia have to be removed and returned to the LFS occasionally. Are you dosing anything to the tank ? How often do you do water changes ?

Re: Hiya All!

Thanks Rob,

No, I'm not dosing anything.

I do about 10% change every 2 weeks

Cheers,

Jeff

*Disclaimer*
i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~
