Re: Hello Reefers

Well I have good news, and bad news. I suppose the bad news may be interpeted as good news to some though. The good news is I caught 3 fish, all were beautiful steelhead. The bad news is they were all natives that had to be released. I was a little....ummmm...lets say dissapointed by the time I caught this, my 3rd fish, so I took a pic. I did get to have steelhead one night for dinner thanks to one in our group that caught a hatchery fish, and was nice enough to share. So had a great time, caught some just beautifull, good fighting fish but have nothing in the fridge.

Here are a couple of pics for you who requested. I wish I was a better photographer and could of captured the beauty of last night better than I did. The sunset reflecting on the river was quite fantastic. The net meshing I say is about 1.5" or a little more to get a size reference, and there is part of my friends shoe in the pic. Yes he was released unharmed after a little pampering..........

Re: Hello Reefers

Oh wow... beautiful sunset! How can you tell 'native' fish from 'hatchery' fish? Are the hatchery fish tagged?

The hatchery fish have a cut fin. After reviewing with the other members in the group I believe the 2nd fish I caught might of been a hatchery fish, I was looking for the fin to be missing, but was told it is just clipped, my mistake....

It is just a perfect river to fish, lots of nice holes and drifts and beautifull scenery. Plenty of wildlife, I saw deer, river otter, wild turkeys and eagles while fishing. It doesn't get much better!!

Well I tried to reenact that scene while I was there, was thigh high wading with my fly pole for most of one afternoon, just couldn't hook into anything. I try to get one on the fly pole every year, that would be the ultimate...

It is just pefect with the house my coworkers brother bought in town. It is one house a way from the river, it is the one we used to rent when we went, now we can go anytime, it is situated in the middle of all the fishing spots on the river, 7 miles up stream and 7 miles down stream you can cover dozens of nice holes.
