Moving my tank

I'm going to be moving and will need to move the tank. Currently I have a 30 gal. but will be upgrading to a 150 gal. When I move the fish and coral is there any precautions I need to take? When breaking in the new tank can I seed the tank with my current substrait? Is there anything I need to know so as not to kill off what I have at this time?

Re: Moving my tank

Welcome!

How long has your substrate been in your current system?
If it's been there for any length of time, I would personally start over with new.

Re: Moving my tank

I wouldn't keep the sand then. We just changed over our tanks from a 46g to a 75g and the sand was nasty!

Re: Moving my tank

I have entertained the idea of building the tank but am unsure of where I could get any type of plans. I did find a 300 gal in my area for $1500 at a local shop, plus the cost of the stand. For a larger tank what do I need for proper flow? Do you know of any online dealers I could speak with about building one? My ultimate goal for my tank has always been to have a mated pair of sea horses. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Moving my tank

As I'm sure you know, the bigger the tank the bigger EVERYTHING has to be...make sure you make a buget so you can control cost. A smaller tank that is finished is better than a big one underfiltrated, underlit, etc...

Re: Moving my tank

I don't know anything about Sea Horses, but if I remeber right, they do best in a species tank, and that would really limit anything else in the tank.
