    New 2 The Max

    Good evening All,

I'm Mark, and I'm new to the Max. I was hoping to get insite on the SeaMax 250. I just purchsed a new/used one and would love to hear all about the different "Mod's" that can be done with this system. I'm curious to hear about changing out the stock T5's and upgrading to LED, or if the T5 are truly sufficant.
Also would love to see some pics on any cabinet retro's and if anybody is running Refug/sump. Basically, I'm over the top excited to here any and things being SeaMax 250, and of course any and all tweeks to getting the most of this system.
    Thank you very much!

    Thanks wscttwolfe,
I got this for my kid's. I needed something for us to do, and learn together. I couldn't thought of a better hobby. I see you have done a Mod to the stock lighting. Are you happy with it? Does it do what you hoped? I see you're keeping clams. I was told with the stock T5's in the 250 Clams are out. What type of LED did you install?
    Thanks again for the welcome.

it was a LED lighting mod, and allows me to keep any SPS I want, and is often too strong for some of my LPS. It also allows me to keep a clam

They are blue and white CREE led's from rapidLED.com. I believe they sell a DIY kit for the 250 if you are interested in LED lighting. After a couple years, the LED's will have paid for themselves in terms of t5 bulb replacement costs and energy savings...

The stock lighting on your tank (rsm250) is much better than the stock lighting on my tank (the rsm130d), just so you know.

    Thanks Nano,
I'm so happy to hear that. I was led to believe otherwise. My kid's love the Clams. I will be sure to post as many as I can once we get underway. Right now I'm seeking Mod Info so I can decide exactly which way to go.
    Thanks again..^5

Glenn, I noticed how clean your system is. I don't see much coraline algae built up? Do you controll the growth? Absolutely beautiful tank. I'd love to know what you dose with?
Wow, I can only dream lol
