Welcome to RS !
I'm assuming this pump is for the turbo-flotor protein skimmer:

Re: Ocean Runner 2700

You can go straight to the manufacturer for this one if you want. Call Aqua-Medic at 877.208.2633. They're in Loveland, CO.

They probably have one that they can overnight to you. If you just need an impeller shaft or a part, they can do that, too.

They helped me out a couple of months ago and their prices on spare parts were better than everyone else.

Cheeks, the OR2700 is the pump used on the Turboflotor 1000. It's a standard Ocean Runner 2500 that's equipped with a needle wheel impeller and a venturi on the intake.

Yes I use this pump also for my Turbo-flotor multi.

BTW Thanx Tom for the info on the manufactorer, I cracked the skimmer cup and need a new one

Re: Ocean Runner 2700

You're welcome, Cheeks. I run a turboflotor multi SL on my system, too, but it uses the OR1700, which is a modified PH2500. That's the stock pump for the Multi. Good luck on that skimmer cup. Their website address, by the way, is Aqua Medic.

Are you running the Turboflotor on your cube? I have mine running on my 90 as well. Some people have trouble tuning the regular Turboflotor, but I've had no trouble at all with tuning the multi. What's been your experience?

Yes I am and love it, an excellent skimmer for smaller to mid-size tanks. I did have some trouble with it overflowing in the beginning but when I removed the flow taps it's worked perfectly !

Here's a photo:

Re: Ocean Runner 2700

Looks like mine - nice dark sludge. You're configuration is like mine also - hanging off of the sump. I have no problem using the flow-taps, however and run them about half-way open. Are you actually running the OR2700 or the OR1700 (discussed above) which is stock with the multi? The 2700 is a bigger pump and with the extra flow would account for the overflow with the taps in place. How far down off the top of your sump is your water level and how much below the water level is your pump?

The original pump was the 2700 but when the needlewheel had to be replaced I decided to get another pump and believe that premiumaquatics sold me the OR 1700 as a replacement, if I remember correctly.

I noticed I get better results with the pump about 4-6" below the water level.

Maybe you mean the reverse. The OR1700 should be stock with the multi. The 2700 is stock on the regular Turboflotor 1000 and is the larger pump. The 2700 draws more air, too. That would definitely be a benefit if it didn't overflow the skimmer. I may have to look into that sometime.

I run my 1700 about 3" below water level in the sump.

You may be right Tom, it's been 4 years and at my age the memory starts to fail...

PS the pump says OR 2500.

Re: Ocean Runner 2700

The OR2700 is a modified OR2500 with a needlewheel impeller. The OR1700 is a modified PH2500 with a modified impeller. It sounds like you have the bigger pump on yours. That, in my mind, would definitely explain why you had overflow issues earlier - because the pump was bigger than is now used. Of course, you draw more air through yours than mine - a definite plus in my mind. Good to know. I may have to try the larger pump someday (just for grins)....
