| Tunicate | Newcomer from Northern VA Greetings all! 150g reef, 180lbs live rock, DSB, lighting is PC's & VHO for 632 total watts, 16g refugium alternating lighting. Current population: 3 Green Chromis (Chromis viridis) 1 Hippo tang (Paracanthurus hepatus) 1 Emperor Angel (Pomacanthus imperator) 1 Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus leucosternon) 1 pair of Tonozuka's Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus tonozukai) 1 pair of Square-Spot Anthias (Pseudanthias pleurotaenia) 1 Orangeback Bass (Serranus annularis) 1 Royal Gramma (Gramma loreto) 1 White-Striped Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis) 3 Green Emerald Crab (Mithrax sculptus) Corals are star polyps, mushrooms and cabbage leather. Inverts are the usual crew of Blueleg hermits and Astrea snails. Lastly, a couple of peppermint shrimp, 1 Green Emerald Crab and several nails in the refugium as well. My interest lies mostly with as many varieties and colors of compatible fish I can house without overtaxing the system. I would like to add a couple small Long-Fin Bannerfish (Heniochus acuminatus) but I'm worried that may overtax the system. Anyways, that's where I'm at...! Regards to all, John |

| Over Achiever | Re: Newcomer from Northern VA Welcome to the Sanctuary! Not sure how big your current fish are, but by that line-up you are, or will very soon be, overtaxing your system. It looks like you know what you are doing though. Are you a member of WAMAS? Looking forward to seeing some pictures of your reef! |

| Tunicate | Re: Newcomer from Northern VA Thanks for the welcome! I'm looking forward to sharing and learning more on this awesome hobby here. I'm actually ramping my system back up after a bit of a hiatus. Long story for another post. I'm finding some amazing resources, including this one, browsing the web. As for pix, I hope to figure that out soon. I'm a bit behind having purchased my first digital cameral just last year! Dentoid, No, not a member of WAMAS. I've visited the website but have not made the leap. I take you would recommend it? Thanks, John |

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Newcomer from Northern VA Welcome to RS, John. ![]() I'm also in Northern VA. I too would love to see some pics of your tank. I also think you have your tank overloaded. Have you thought about a nice, new 265g? Superpets has great deals on them. ![]()

| Tunicate | Re: Newcomer from Northern VA Again, my thanks for the welcome messages... I've been exploring the chronicle forums and I can see what I've been missing. Some great info (and banter) going on here... Terry, Overloaded? That's what I've been telling the missus and why we need something like your 450. That 265g suggestion sounds like a plan! I do like my fishes and I am aware it's probably maxed. My Emperor is a sub-adult but he is king of this castle. The Hippo has been in there a long time and he does get pushy with the Powder Blue. Nothing too serious. I have a prop system that I took down a few years ago due to job travel. I'm not traveling anymore so am considering restarting. It's a 56g main tank with 2 36g shallow tanks all plumbed together. Gots me some thinking and planning to do... |
