New here!

Hi!

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from Gainesville, FL. I have a 125 gallon and two 20 gallons set up. They've all been running for about 3 months now. So far so good! I would like to meet more reefers in Gainesville though!

pics!

Ok so here are some pictures of my 125gallon. Don't mind the hair algae. I'm slowly trying to take care of that. And no pics of my 20gallons. They are a little bit boring, but one has a pretty little eel I'm holding for my dad and the other has a talbot damsel and red headed fairy wrasse. Also I just recently took out the fish from my 125 to treat them all for ich. So for 6 weeks it's a totally invert tank! My tiny Peterson's shrimp loves it!

Found this corky finger gorgonia washed up on the beach!

New tubs

Peterson's cleaner shrimp

New RBTA hosting a porcelain crab

Same RBTA when my clowns were still in the tank

I have a convict tang, hippo tang, a blue and a gray juvenile angels, 2 percs, 2 bullet gobies, 2 high hats, and 2 blennies in hypo-salinity right now. Some are going to my dad and keeping the others. Bother bother...

LOVE the pics. Wish we could find a profitable use for Hair Algae

Re: New here!

That hair algae is eating your shrimp! lol If you need any help troubleshooting that problem, let us know.
Seriously, once you get rid of the hair, I think your tank will look fabulous!

Re: New here!

Thanks everyone! I threw in a bunch of snails to eat the algae. I've also lowered my nitrates to about 2.5. And since there's no fish food being added to the tank right now, I think it should clear up. Hopefully!!!

Re: New here!

RO water from the LFS. I'm getting a RO filter soon, so I don't have to drive back and forth. My phosphates are low too, 0.1. I think the problem started, because I used water that was in the tank originally. I didn't realize the guy had nitrate problems 30ppm! And I know he used RO water too. I tried to buy the filter from him, but he had another little tank going.

You're better off with your OWN filtration system. That way you can maintain the filters and know when they need to be changed.

good luck and Happy Reefing
