Hi all

Hey everyone, new to the forum and new to hobby. I have had my tank set-up for a week now and its really coming along. Now don't ask me how, but my tank cycled in a few days, it may have something to do with the 40 lbs of LS and 27 lbs of LR in a 20gal long tank. Anyways my local fish store OK'd me for some clowns and some crabs. I have 6 scarlet hermits, 2 clowns, 2 emerald crabs, 1 unknown hermit (was supposed to be a snail), and 1 snail. I'm real excited but trying to control myself from going out and getting some corals. I want a Kenya tree at the very least. I posted some pics to a site i set up and will devote to my tank. Take a look here
Anyways, thanks for all the info i've leached so far and i look forward to conitnued learning and contribution here.

-Mark

Re: Hi all

Hi Mark and welcome to RS!

It sounds like you already know what advice we'd give you. Patience. Let the tank get established and let the nitrifying bacteria build up to support the fish. On the 2nd pic with the fish, it looks like you have an aptasia. If that is what it is, you'll want to kill that off. They can take over a tank VERY quickly.

Re: Hi all

Oh geez, here is was thinking it was some kind of polyp that survived, thanks for the warning. I think i'm going to wait until i can get a better ID on it before destroying it, just to be sure, but it is looking more anemone than a zoanthid. Thanks.

Re: Hi all

Thanks framerguy, the rocks just seems to fall into place and cleverly hide my heater, filter and powerhead. Unfortunitly my fish haven't taken to my shelters and cave i tried to amke for them yet, all in due time i hope.

Be sure to keep an eye on your parameters. It is a bit early to add 2 fish at once. You may need to do some water changes to keep things in check.
