Re: Hi

I love your family project..lol Thats exactly what I told my hubby I have a 3year old boy and 4 year old girl and this will help teach them about caring for finicky pets, since the dogs dont count. Im setting up my first marine tank, 46g bowfront. I guess i will figure out how to post pics and add them.

Thanks for being so kind

Re: Hi

oh yeah, about that... Im a Police Officer, but have taken a year off to spend with my kids (and start a saltwater tank) before they start school..lol

I do have a question... My tank has been set up for about 3 days now and the water just went milky white. The water smells like carbon, but hopefully this will clear up right?? before my live rock comes in?? I hope. I have only sand, not live, and salwater in the tank. milky white normal?

Re: Hi

Welcome! Milky white is not normal for a tank with only water and sand. How did you mix your water?

Re: Hi

in a 35g plastic trash bin... water added (tap conditioner by A.P.I.) first, then salt a little at a time... added powerhead and a heater, then while that was mixing I rinsed the sand for the LONGEST time and then added it to the tank, then the water... I have a canister filter, Marineland c-220, so I called them and they said it was "new tank syndrome" I didnt think this was normal either.
