Re: New member hello

You should absolutely post pics from the beginning.
First off we enjoy pics. Second it will give you something to look back on when you have a wonderful reef.

Re: New member hello

I think I'm going to have to break down and buy a new wet/dry. Mine came used with the system looks like it's almost as old as me. I'm looking at a Eshopp 200 from Petsolutions.com. What do you think? Also what in-sump protein skimmer do you recommend (reasonable price if possible). HAPPY EASTER!

Re: New member hello

Are you going for a reef tank or a FOWLR? If you are going reef then ditch the wet/dry entiretly. Your LR will preform your biological filtration better than any wet/dry. I would recomment a sump instead. They are easy to make youself and there are lots of DIY plans out there. Spend your money on a good skimmer instead.
Personally I love ASM G series skimmers. They are great and very reliable.

Re: New member hello

Why can't I convert my wet/dry to a sump? Remove the bio balls and add a skimmer? It has an old skimmer that looks like is was built into the unit though. No "guts" , just an acrilic "column" and collection cup. I don't really get how it was supposed to work, but the tank is fine. It already has the bulk head. Maybe if I post a diagram of it someone could help me with modification ideas? umm.. how do I post a diagram??

Re: New member hello

Never mind. I jst took measurements of my current wet/dry and it's knda small. Too small to accomodate a decent skimmer. Oh well, bck to the drawing board.
