Saltwater Newbie

Hello e1,

I recently bought a used 75 gal. saltwater aquarium, with all the accessories. It has a 20 gal sump underneath, with a Bio Rocker filter, Nautilus TE skimmer, Magdrive #9 pump, and lots of hoses. These items were all disconnected when I bought it, and I don't have a clue about reconnecting them in the proper sequence. Does the water from the tank go thru the Bio Rocker first, or the skimmer. It has been 20 years since I owned a fish tank, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Can supply photos, and additional info if needed. All items, except the pump, are Kent Marine.

Thx

Re: Saltwater Newbie

first the water goes over the biorocker and the skimmer sits inside the 20gal. sump...then the magdrive sends it back up.
what type of inhabitants do you plan to have in your tank?

Welcome aboard!

Some pics might help untangle your hose mess.

Re: Saltwater Newbie

Thx e1,

However, you might regret it later, because I have tons of questions (lol).

boozeman, not sure yet, but will probably include Lionfish, Clowns, shoots, urchins, and whatever I can keep alive, basically.

I've edited a few photos, hopefully, they will upload OK. The 1st pic is of the bottom of the tank, looks like crushed shells. The 2nd is the skimmer. The short tube to right of main body, has a filter (sponge) attached. Is that an air intake, or should something be attached to it? The 3rd is a photo of two pumps. On the left, is what appears to be exhuast pump from skimmer. Does it just dump water into the sump? On the right, is the intake pump (Magdrive #9). Do they both, just lay in the bottom of the sump? How far apart should they be? Last photo, is the Bio Rocker.

Thx
