Re: New to...well everything!

iam not saying you have to get a bigger tank. iam simply saying a larger tank is able to keep more fish and corals. I know people who have awesome nanos. I just dont want to see you spend money on equipment for this tank if you are planning on upgrading to a larger tank within say a year. almost nothing you buy for this tank is going to be large enough for a bigger tank. Iam shooting myself right now. I thought 75 was large enough for me but after 2 years, iam planning a larger tank.

Re: New to...well everything!

I am soo sorry you got screwed. A 14 gallon pod should be around 175.00

You need to consider what size tank you want. What you want to keep in it. Where it will go. How much you want to spend. Are you up to the challenge.

I love to see people get hooked on reefing. And I love to help. There are many factors to consider. First, what size do you think you want?

ok...my dad is a master wood worker, so the cabinet it goes in will be free lol

size is not a problem, i have space for w/e...

i'm thinking between 100-150

i will have to build it slowly cuz cash is a little low right now...

me and my dad have every tool under the sun, so building anything isnt a problem...

( i see u know alot, i'm gonna let you point out what i should buy and where )

Best Way To Build A Reef. Slow Is The Best It Gives You Time To Read And Research. In The Mean Time Just Enjoy The Nano, And Plan The Larger Tank.

Re: New to...well everything!

A 150 gallon tank is a great size. It gives you enough room to have a great reef. I assume you want a reef tank? The first thing to look at is where to get the tank from. And what you want the dimensions to be. Look at the space you want to put it. I like tanks that are wide and shallow. My current tank is 31" deep, and 24" wide. I had to do that due to space limitations. If you could go with a 30" wide tank that would give you so many aquascaping options.

Re: New to...well everything!

A tank 5 feet long, 30 inches wide, and 18 inches deep would be 140 gallons. Personally, I think that would be a great size. Then you could light it with T5 VHO or HO lighting.

Re: New to...well everything!

I Have To Agree. I Like Wide Tanks. That Is One Of The Reasons I Am Planning A Lager Tank. My 75 Is Just So Hard To Aquascape, Not Impossible, But Iam Running Out Of Places To Put Coral. I Personally Think A 75 Was A Great Starter Tank.
