Re: Hello RS newbie here

Hello and welcome!

Very nice looking tank! That's angel is going to outgrow it quickly.

How often and how much each time do you do water changes? Water changes are a very effective way of exporting Nitrates from a tank. Keep in mind that you only get the percentage of drop directly related to percent of water change. I'd suggest heavier/more aggressive water changes.

Keep us posted and keep posting pics

Re: Hello RS newbie here

Welcome to RS!! The nitrates are most likely coming from the Lionfish poop. They eat big prey and make a big mess because of it. Big Al is right, larger and more often waterchanges will fix it.

Re: Hello RS newbie here

That's a good amount but you may want to try and do it more often.. at least to see how quickly you can get them down.

I didn't even REALIZE that was a lion fish. Those things poop a truck load each time and it tends to really pollute even a large tank if you're not careful. I hate to be a "Downer" but it needs to be in a much larger tank because a smaller tank (with less water volume) it's so easy for things to "Get out of hand".

Tank looks great. Bump up the frequency of your water changes to get it down and see what it takes to KEEP it down Trial and Error

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: Hello RS newbie here

Adding water volume is a VERY good thing. I love my HOB fuge on my home 10g tank.

Re: Hello RS newbie here

first welcome second tank looks real good third that fuge will also help with your water peram's cuz you'll have a little more leeway with having more water i would watch those fish though i can see them both easily outgrowing that tank and i could also see the lionfish if he gets to hungry eating the angel and watch the angel because they are known to just pick at anything good luck with everything

i don't think a dwarf lion could eat the angel and hopefully the flame doesn't pick at my corals cause if he does then ill have to take him back to my LFS were i got him because they said that he wouldn't eat anything and if i had any problems i could take him back i really hope none of my fish outgrow my tank because i would hate to get rid of any of them especially my yellow dwarf
