I'm new to this and would love some interaction

I have no idea what I'm doing here, so please be patient.

In my previous life, I had three saltwater aquariums -- a 150, a 75 and a 55. We had a horrible house fire, and I lost two of my three tanks. We've built a new home, and I figured after what my fish went through, they deserved the biggest home I could get for them. Thanks to my wonderful husband (a contractor) and a small inheritance, I have a 745 gallon aquarium. All the fish have recovered and are thriving nicely.

I guess I need to get into a routine for maintenance and care for this system. That's when I decided to join this site . . .

Re: I'm new to this and would love some interaction

Yes! That was so long ago, I had forgotten.

We had to get out of our rental, so I had to get the 745 set up and everyone moved from their temporary 220 home at our rental. That was tricky, since I had to take the rock out of the 220 so I could put it in the 745. Couldn't pull out to much of the rock with the fish hiding in it. What a nightmare. Not my recommended way to set up a saltwater tank.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Before the pics (you guys can wait, it won't kill you)
What do you have hooked up to this tank.

Skimmer make and model
Refugium?
Sump?
Any other kinds of filtration cannister or otherwise?
And a list of inhabitants. fish, snails, crabs, etc.

And by the way...

Sounds wonderful by the way. 745 gallons.

People come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
