| Cabbage Leather | Hello Hello to all. I'm just getting into keeping a reef aquarium, and it's starting to suck up alot of time and money. My wife thinks I'm crazy. The tank is from a friend. It's about 6 yrs old, but has been severely neglected for about 3. He gave it to me just before christmas, so I've had it for about 2 months. I've added a pearl bubble coral, red sea xenia, a different kind of xenia, some brown zoo's, some eagle eye zoo's, a leather coral, and a torch coral. If I can figure out how to post pix I will. I hope this forum will answer alot of questions, and offer helpfull suggestions. Talk to you soon, bill |

| Cabbage Leather | Re: Hello My tank is a 55 gal. ~48" x 12" x 17". Last night one of my Xenia frags must have been dislodged from the rock it was in and fell to the bottom of the tank. It's all shrivelled up now, I hope it rebounds soon, it's my favorite coral. Also, a couple weeks ago, my bubble and leather corals got a little too close. The bubble stung the leather. The burned areas on the leather seem to be repairing themselves quickly, but I'm afraid the bubble is suffering from allelopathy. The bubble is upstream of the leather, and I put new carbon bags in my filter, but ever since the incident, the bubble hasn't open up like it used to. Any ideas? bill |

| Manta Ray | Re: Hello Welcome to RS!! The best way to post pics is to use a hosting site such as Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket, load them there, copy and paste them here in a thread. About the bubble; what kind of flow, light, placement, etc. They prefer low intensity light, low flow and should be fed for good health.

| Cabbage Leather | Re: Hello my bubble coral is in an area of low flow, just enough to push the polyps a little bit every 5 sec. or so. My lighting is only two 65w 50/50 power compacts so I don't think thats an issue either. I've never specifically fed it before, it has caught and ate some flakes in the past, and I add phytoplankton every other day, should I feed more? Like I said before, it was doing really well before it stung the leather. Polyp extension is aprox. 75% of what it was before. I noticed yesterday, all the way around the coral, where it meets the skeleton, there is a band of differently colored skeleton approx. 1/16" wide. Could this be a growth line, or is the coral receding? |
