Re: frag tank size

Hi:

I am completely new at this whole idea of reef tanks. I have been interested for a while now but have never had the nerve to attempt a reef. Now I decided to research and find that I have information overload. Any suggestions on readings would be great.

In terms of a frag tank, does it need to be attached to the main display tank, using the same water, etc.

Thanks for any help

Re: frag tank size

Well, there are two schools of thought there...

Some will say yes, because the larger the volume of water in your system, the easier the setup will be to maintain, not sure who's quote on here this is, but... "dilution is the solution to pollution!"

The other though is that by having the tank independent of your display, Your frag tank will not be introduced to any contaminents from your display. If you're new to the hobby though, chances are you won't be needing a frag tank for some time, you can simply grow some frags here and there in the display tank

heh, it's okay! We all were there at one point. It's a tank kept specifically for propagating coral Imagine it as a... "coral garden"

When in doubt... wait it out. This means take it slow and let the tank "develop" and don't rush it. Time is your friend
