When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: Hi, I'm Scootman & I'm a Reefaholic!

You do know that once a reefaholic always a reefaholic. There is no help except death I hate to tell you. No meetings, no family member or friends will be able to help you. You will find yourself hanging out in the local reef shops, spending every extra dollar you have and even some you don't have on corals and fish. Your mate will ask you where you have been and why there is a large chunk of money gone from the savings, not to mention where you have been all afternoon (days the LRS gets its' stock in) and you will find all your time devoted to your tank. Just don't fight it, accept it, you are hooked and once you admit you are a reefaholic, life will be easier.

Re: Hi, I'm Scootman & I'm a Reefaholic!

Hey scoots, welcome! Long time no see. What is it about a day? Welcome to one of the best hidden (maybe not) sites on the web. You may as well take a few minutes to post some shots of your tank. Our members will continue to bug you till you do. He's got a killer stand folks. You just have to see it.

Mike, I forgot to tell you that we had a business meeting yesterday. Next social meeting is Sunday, Feb 10th at 2PM at the Gulfarium at Ft. Walton.

Sorry to kidnap your thread scoots but had to get that in for Mike (flricordia).

Re: Hi, I'm Scootman & I'm a Reefaholic!

Hey Doc & Mike,

It's good to see other folks in my area on this forum. I agree this is a gem of a site.

Thanks to all the other for the warm welcome and I'll do as Doc said and post a picture or two of my setup. It's very much a work in progress, but I'm learning a lot and the results are finally beginning to show.

Thanks again,
Scoots

Welcome to RS!! That stand is a serious work of art. Is it a converted piece of furniture or a custom build? Oh yeah, nice tank too!

Re: Hi, I'm Scootman & I'm a Reefaholic!

The stand was purchased as a stand. They only size they make is for a 75 gallon.

I had saltwater tanks back in my college days (I was single then), and my place was filled with aquarium parts others were throwing away. My wife insisted that if I ever got back into the hobby, she didn't want the house cluttered with a bunch of yard sale stuff held together with spit, gum and duct tape. After 10 years of trying to convince her that I wanted back into the hobby, she bought the tank and stand for me. Her only condition is that it must remain "Presentable" at all times. That was the green light I needed, so all my yard sale treasures are now in the garage and that's where the serious tinkering takes place. My inner geek lives again, but only in the garage

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

When in doubt... wait it out. This means take it slow and let the tank "develop" and don't rush it. Time is your friend

Your stand is absolutely gorgeous. Looks like an antique piece of real furniture.
