| Tunicate | Newguy Hello everyone, glad I found this forum. I am new to all of this and need some advice on purchasing equipment. The reef store near me has the 24g Aquapod, but it doesnt come with a skimmer. First, what is the opinion on the Aquapod, and do I need a skimmer with this system. Thanks, and I look forward to getting started. Saratoga |

| -CHAUVINIST PIG- | Re: Newguy welcome dude!! i personally dont like the AP or nano cubes etc, mainly cause you pay for an all inclusive system, and have to scrap half and upgrade the other. but thats like just my opinion man. skimmers are a must IMHO, but it is also a common practice to skip the skimmer and do a lot of water changes. Your friendly demon's suggestion: get a overkill skimmer.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Newguy Welcome to RS! I am kind of divided on the Aquapod. If you keep your stocking light and keep up on water changes and have enough LR then it is good enough. The stock lights though are PCs which means you are limited in what you can keep. Also there is the lack of a skimmer though nanotuners may have one for the Aquapod. I am not sure. I would rather buy a tank and the equipment separately. That way you can pick out exactly what you want to have and can add on as time goes by.

| Manta Ray | Re: Newguy I like them if you want an cube with a hood. But I would definatley get a skimmer. Just do not get any skimmer by RedSea, they are terrible skimmers, and always get a skimmer that says it will skim at least 2X your water volume.

| Elegance coral | Re: Newguy Welcome, I have a friend w/ an AP - replaced the filter in the back with a real skimmer that fits right in. It does the job and the thing is BEAUTIFUL! Bob said it though, your going to pay for all the stuff, then have to upgrade it all. Drew |
