Hello! New to forum and SW

Wanted to say hi to everyone. I have read a bunch of threads here and have found it to be very informative and friendly. I just started up my first SW tank, a 24 gallon Aquapod. At the moment I have the water, live sand and live rock in it and just waiting for it to cycle (while staring at it looking for signs of life )....

Re: Hello! New to forum and SW

I love the staring part. I feel for you. It's THE hardest part of a SW tank, but sooooo worth it. Congratulations on the new tank and welcome aboard.
When you get a chance, jot down what your plans are for this pod.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Hello and welcome. You'll get used to staring because it get's worse. You'll wake up in the WEE hours and grab your tank light (go ahead and get one NOW just for wee-hour tank watching) and stick your sleepy nose to the tank just to see what new creatures have come out to play.

Take your time and look around. It's a GREAT place to be

When in doubt... wait it out. This means take it slow and let the tank "develop" and don't rush it. Time is your friend

Re: Hello! New to forum and SW

Thanks for the quick responses! This is a friendly place .

I saw my first hitchiker yesterday morning, a bristle worm. And he was big! I was totally shocked that something that big could have been hiding out in my rocks. I was just looking over the tank, checking out my aquascaping, and out this thing slithered. I bet my face was priceless.

My boyfriend was bummed he missed it and has spent a lot of time staring at the tank hoping for it to come out again....

Anyway, I thought this was a bad thing, but I've asked a few people and they said to leave him in, he would help keep the tank clean.

I have decided to start a thread in the tank chronicles forum, I just put a couple pics of my aquascape in there. I'd love some feedback! (the link is in my signature)

Re: Hello! New to forum and SW

Welcome to RS! I would be bummed too if I missed a big bristleworm. And yes, you ought to keep him. A picture would be nice(if you can get one, of course) to make sure it isn't a fireworm though!

Re: Hello! New to forum and SW

Wow, this place is so great. Thanks for all the greetings! What is a tank light? I read somewhere that red light is good as it won't scare off the critters. My aquapod has led "moonlights" that I have on at night. Does that do the same? I can see pretty well in there with them on.
