Hey Guys

Hello,

My name is Jeremy and I am from Maryland. I met one of the founders of this website at MACNA in Pittsburgh and decided to jump aboard and get involved with the forum.

I have been keeping various marine aquariums for about 7 years and reef aquariums for 5 of those 7 years. Naturally like many aquarists I started in the marine hobby with fish only tanks and slowly but steadily graduated to reef aquarium keeping.

I write a column called Below the Surface on FishChannel.com and wrote that same column in FAMA Magazine from 2005-2006. I still contribute several feature articles per year to FAMA though.

I have a 90 gallon bowfront reef that I had custom made. It has about 170 pounds of live rock, a large population of various fish, and a huge mixed variety of LPS, SPS, and soft corals. I have plenty of anemones, clams, sponges, etc, etc as well. There are so many creatures in the tank I couldn't begin to name them all.

I use T-5 high output lighting and have the Current USA 8x54 watt Nova fixture over the tank and have had good results.

I look forward to talking with you all about the hobby.

Happy Reefing,
Jeremy

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Hey Guys,

I've uploaded some pics of my tank to my gallery. I'll upload some more as soon as I can hunt around and find some more good ones.

Enjoy!

Re: Hey Guys

Hey Guys,

The Blue Face is actually very good with the corals. He picked at an open brain when I first got him. In fact he managed to totally finish the open brain off. I threw around the idea of removing him but he is just so cool looking I couldn't do it. Now though he doesn't bother the corals much at all; in fact I haven't seen him pick at anything since.

Dentoid, I live in Western, MD about 3.5 hours from where you are at. I have friends in Springfield, VA so I travel to that area occasionally. Considering the shape of I-95 getting in and out of Springfield I try to travel there as little as possible, lol. I am a WAMAS member but since the meetings are so far away I hardly ever get out to them. The last one I attended was when Jorge spoke on seahorses last year.
