Ding! Ding! Ding! Thanks to Lynn and Frank getting me in touch with a certain distributor, I did get one! The I-Series is still in production so it should be shipped out in October. Can't wait!

For anyone interested in getting one of these it's a better price at The Cultured Reef than anywhere else. Thanks again Dick!

What's different aboutthe I-Series as opposed to the G-Series or is this the "Retro" series?

It is not a retro series but a further improvement of the Solaris lights. I forget what is better though I know I was told so hopefully Dick will stop by soon and remind me.

I don't even remember the upgrades! I remember there being a new lunar cycle and day cycle that is automatically programmed into the controller. Also you could control the intensity of the lights.

The G series was the original, equivalent to 250W MH 20K. It was completely programmable. On default settings you simply plugged it in, turned it on and set the date, time and the hemisphere we are in. It has both choices Northern and Southern. Then it followed the solar and lunar cycle just as we live it. You could also customize all the settings, including the amount of white and blue light allowing an adjustment from 13K to 20K.

The second generation Solaris is the H4 series, equivalent to 400W MH 20K. It, too, was completely adjustable like the G series. The H4 series was more expensive than the G series.

Coming out at the end of October will be the I4 series, equivalent to 400W MH 15K. And completely adjustable as the previous two models. The I4 series is actually giving a 30% brighter light than the H4 series. The Solaris light is evolving into a spectacular option for reef lighting. The I4 series is the same price as the H4 series. That was good to hear.

Keep your eye on PFO's LED lights, pun intended. By the way, Dentoid is getting the I4 series.
