Hello!

Hello! I was in the neighborhood, and thought i would say hello! I need some help. My inverts keep dying as soon as i put them in the tank. snails, hermits, emerald crabs, shrimp. I keep checking the water and all appears to be fine. Nitrites, Nitrates, ammonia, ph and salinity all are good. Any suggestions?

Re: Hello!

Welcome. What are your parameters? Has the tank ever had copper in it? How long has the tank been set up? How big is the tank? What else do you have in the tank? What equipment are you using? We'd all love to help but need a lot more information.

Re: Hello!

Thanks! it is 125gal, with a 38 gal tank being used as a sump, i have a ASM-G1x skimmer. it has been setup since june. I cured the rocks for four months prior to adding them to the tank. I have a yellow tang, mandarian dragonette, 2 pajama cardinals, a scopus tang, a blue hippo tang, percula clownfish, and several chromis in there already. The fish are fine. no sign of stress or disease. is there a test for copper? I have seen one, or maybe i am not looking for the right one. Thanks again for your help.

Re: Hello!

Not that it's the problem but I had fish problems from saltwaterfish.com last year. I won't buy anything from them again. That's just me. This would be my recommendation for copper testing.

COPPER TEST KIT BY SALIFERT | Copper Test Kits & Refills | Test Kits & Refills | Aquarium - ThatPetPlace.com

I do find it unusual that you would only loose inverts. I would also suggest that you consider a skimmer upgrade. The ASM G1 is an excellent skimmer but I feel too small for your system. A G3 or 4 would be a better fit. IMO.

Re: Hello!

Re: Hello!

Welcome to RS!
Are you using tap water or ro/di? That can certainly make a difference.
Also you mention moving. Did the tank move or is it a new setup?
I agree on the skimmer upgrade. I know the specs say the g1-x is fine for your system. But I upgraded mine about 6 months ago and boy did it make a difference.
