Hi everyone!

Im new here from Woodland, CA just saying hi!! I recently got into Reef keeping. I have an 80g tank with 20g sump. Im running a euroreef RS80 skimmer and 2 Maxi-Jet 1200's (with 2 more to come). My tank is very new and all I really have in it is live rock (a few snails and crabs too).

Just droping by to say hi!

Re: Hi everyone!

Welcome to RS! Stick ariound a while. It is a great forum and we can definitely get you started on the right track.
Lesson #1 Don't use damsels to cycle the tank. Use a piece or two of raw shrimp from the grocery. It does the same thing without risk to the anmal's life.

Re: Hi everyone!

No photos yet...I will try and get it done soon though.
I have been on another forum for a little while now and got some good advice, I joined this one cause I found a local reefer who i want to make friends with.
The tank has been up and running for three weeks now. I got it used on Craigslist with about 1.5 inches of live sand in it (5 months old). I got the skimmer based on what I was told by other people. I went to the LFS and got about 55lbs of live rock that had been in a local guys tank for 4 years...very thick coraline algea on it. Other than that all there is are a few hitchhikers: a nice 50 head polyp collony, a few shrooms and something that I dont know what it is (1/8" wide little purple tree looking thingys with neon green tips) really cool lookin stuff. Oh yeah, and a lawn mower blenny too, rock came with hair algea on it.

That, if it works, is a pic of the polyp collony.
Thats all for now...thanks for the welcome
