I love the garden eels! I'm thinking about a tank for them too! Keep us posted, I'm most interested in hearing how you do it.

Re: new member

what i have built is a 24x24x6 inch acryllic tank with a 1/2 inch bulkhead in the bottom for the overflow. i will have two 1/4 inch bulkheads in the upper rear corners for the return. im going to have an 8 inch sandbed for the eels as well as some grasses and a rock or two. im thinking of having eventually as many as 6 eels in the tank, they seem to do a lot better in groups. im also going to have a banded pipefish and a seahorse or two.

Re: new member

Pipefish and seahorses in with eels? I would think that is a recepie for disaster. The seahorses move so slowly I would be afraid for them.

Garden Eels are pretty much harmless & feed on brine I would assume, you might have seen them ...they burrow into the sand & stick out vertically when feeding. Nothing like a Snowflake ect.

Re: new member

nope, i mean 24x24x6, and yes, the garden eels are completely harmless, feed on the same things as the horses and pipe, i do however have a snowflake moray in my 80 who is everyones best friend, he and the fish cuddle.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: new member

Sounds like you are well on your way. Good job.
BTW we love pics even if they are of empty tanks. Then we get to share the excitement as things progress.
