| Bryozoan | Hey folks... I'm new to this forum, however, not new to the reef aquarium scene at all. I've had 2 reef tanks for around 6 years now, but I got out of the hobby when my house was robbed 2 years ago and the culprits poured a bottle of my hairspray into my tank, which killed everything. After 2 years of being poor and not able to afford to get the tank up and running again, I now have it set up and looking good once more! So far, I just have a 55 gallon and a 29 gallon, the 55 being my primary tank. I just dropped 120 lbs of some VERY nice live rock from premiumaquatics.com in it... (check out that site, their rock is second to none, and it is VERY affordable) and the only fish I have are 2 percula clowns. The great thing about my tank as of now is that my 2 percs are hosting my condylactis anemone, which from what I've heard, is very rare. Anyways, good to be on the forums, and even better to be back in the hobby. I'll get pics posted here as soon as I figure out how to do so. Nice to meet ya'll... Later on. |

I have never understood why someone would do something so destructive like that. Glad to hear you are back in the hobby. Post some pice when you can.

| Over Achiever | Re: New here.. Got percs hosting a condylactis! Awsome! That just ain't right! It's not enough to rob you, but they have be destructive as well. People like that are weak, puny roaches of society. Anyway, welcome to the Sanctuary. We can help you get back on the right track! It is very rare and unnatural for a Pacific species of Clown fish to host with an Atlantic species of anemone. There is a chance that the anemone will someday not recognize the clown and have it for lunch. Your Clown is hosting out of necessity (shelter and protection) and convenience (no recognizable Pacfice anemone). Best of luck with this pairing. |

| Golden Moray | Re: New here.. Got percs hosting a condylactis! Awsome! Sorry to hear about your tanks but glad that you made it back. That's why my security system includes a 115 lb Rottweiller. She's a real sweetie with the family and friends but wouldn't hesitate to take control of the situation if someone broke in. I'm not crazy about the clownfish/condy pairing. I'd see about getting a more suitable anenome and trade out the condy. It would be better for all concerned. |

| Excellent Guesser :D | Re: New here.. Got percs hosting a condylactis! Awsome! I feel you. My apartment was broken into last December ( I know, merry Christmas!) That was the 2nd thought that went through my mind. Did they mess with my tank? Luckily they didn't. They just wanted my computer. Karma to you

| Bryozoan | Re: New here.. Got percs hosting a condylactis! Awsome! Dentoid: Thanx for the compliment, much appreciated! As far as my setup goes: The lighting is a Coralife power compact system with 2 actinic 65 watt bulbs and 2 8k bulbs. I have a CPR backpack for the filtration. I have about 120lbs of live rock, 50 of which was recently purchased from premiumaquatics.com, and the rest was my old live rock from before the vandalism. I gave the rock to a friend of mine after my tank got waxed, and he kept it in his tank for over 2 years until I was ready to get my tank going again. Then, I brought half of my old rock back, and bought the new rock and mixed them together. The sand bed is original, is is about 6 years old now, and was purchased from inland aquatics. As far as other equipment goes, I just use several different powerheads hooked up to one of those fancy powerstrip/wavemakers (can't remember what it's called) I have somewhat of a "poorboy" setup, but it's always worked for me ![]() |
