| Tunicate | Hello All, My Name is Karen, I live in San Francisco and after many snorkelling adventures in Hawaii and the Caribbean, and months of marvelling and drooling over sw aquariums i have decided to take the leap. I ordered a 12 gallon nanocube deluxe today and have 3-7days until it arrives to gather ideas for what i'd like to have in my set up. I think i would like a mix of inverts and fish, though i know i will be limited on the latter. Suggestions, comments, pearls of wisdom are welcome!!! I have a good friend with multiple nano set ups helping out so i'm not alone, but i must admit i do feel a little intimidated... I will be dropping by often... I am glad that there are forums like this one for people just starting out!! |

| Golden Moray ![]() | Re: New to SW- 12g Suggestions Welcome Well first off welcome to RS! I hope you enjoy the forums. Now about your tank. With this one I would take it slow, one reason being because of the size issue. I would put about 10-15 pounds of rock and maybe 10 pounds of sand. Being that your tank is so small it will be more difficult to take care of. With that tank you will have to watch water perameters much closer. I would not put more than 3 or 4 small fish in there. What type of invert are you talking about? Corals? Anenomes? With those lights you will only be able to do a limited ammount of corals. Which this would mean no anenomes as they need alot of light. You would be able to do some softies, leathers mushrooms and things of the sort. Let us know if you have any piticular questions! Matt |

Regardless of his typos, welcome to RS! The number one rule in this adventure is to go slow. Get a good amount of live rock and wait for your cycle to finish. Then add slowly to the tank starting with your least agressive fish and working to the most agressive. Also as mentioned above you will need to keep a close eye on your water quality and be prepared to do frequent water changes. Always use ro or better yet ro/di water for your changes, Also as mentioned above depending on what you want to keep in your tank you may need to upgrade your lights and/or your flow from the stock on the nano, Sorry I went on so long but you did say suggestions welcome. ![]() Welcome to RS and let us know what you are planning and we will give as much assistance as we can.
