| Tunicate | retrying after a 20yr layoff hello to all you reef geeks! i am trying this again after a miserable failure many moons ago. i have learned one thing in life....you can never do enough research, and that is my plan this time. my idea for this is a 75gal reef with a 29gal refuge/display and seperate, under tank sump(see attached). any comments, suggestions, laughs etc. will be greatly appreciated. thanks, karl BTW.....pic is not to scale...75 and 29 to sit next to each other, sump under the 75....is this feasible or should i take another route? |

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: retrying after a 20yr layoff Welcome back!! I am certain you will be successful this time! Your plan looks fine. I do not have a separate refugium but most people like the refugium to be gravity fed back into the main display instead of a return pump. This reduces the deaths of pods.

| Posting & Toasting! | Re: retrying after a 20yr layoff I agree with Woody gravity feed is better but your side by side design should most definitly work. Good Karma to you. |

| Reef Lobster | Re: retrying after a 20yr layoff Hello... The refugium beside the main tank is a great idea... To be gravity fed back to the main tank it will have to be elevated slightly above the dislpay tank. Then all you have to do is feed the refugium with a pump from the main tank, or a branch off of the return from the sump.
