Newbie

Hi all another newbie here. I am pretty new to the SW world. My tank is a 29 gal soon to be mini reef tank. So far I have two juvie false percs, 2 pep shrimp, one blue neon goby (going to get the other one later in the week) and hermit crabs. I got my first frag from someone in my local reefing club, it has two purple mushrooms and something else I am not too sure what it is yet. I am adding my lights sometime this week (as soon as they get here). I am getting a 130 watt 30 inch current sattelite. I will get some pictures up soon. I also have a unidentified anemone that came in on a piece of rock. Still looking for a positive ID on it, I will post some pictures of that too.

Re: Newbie

first of all Welcome,
if you have anyquestions let us know and try to post some pics of those items we can help you with. Careful of your levels being so new, anemone's can be really sensitive and most of the time it is recommended to have a tank up for 7-12 months before adding them. Do you have any lights on it right now?

Usually the Anemones that come with the LR aren't the good ones so post a pic when you can.

BTW welcome to RS

Re: Newbie

Thanks guys. My tank has been running for three months without any livestock in it. I have been adding it slowly over the past month. I don't have lights on it yet, they should be here by the end of the week (i ordered them on saturday). I know there are a few aptasia on the new rock for sure (i got some peps but they haven't eaten any yet) the one that I am not sure about does not look like any aptasia pix that I have seen. My boyfriend took some better pix last night beacause it moved to the front of the rock (much easier to photgraph) as soon as he gets them resized I will post them.

JFK Jr's right on the money there. I have tried a few different remedies and Joe's Juice is by far the best and fastest way of removal

Re: Newbie

I think I am going to get a bottle. My boyfriend wanted to try calcium first. I don't want to try a bunch of different things. I just want to get them gone. LOL.

Joe's Juice is basically the same thing as calcium... only it's been produced not to affect your water chemistry like Kalkwasser powder or Reeformer to mention a few.

You only need a tiny amount to do the job with Joe's Juice, so why take a chance screwing up your water chemistry. Especially if you have a smaller tank where calcium additives can really affect your water parameters!
