| Tunicate | First post Just sending my first post here. Getting ready to start up my first saltwater tank once i get back from my summer vacations later in July. I've already had a 90 gallon freshwater tank with a bunch of chiclids but when I moved I decided that I would try my hand at saltwater when I set up the tank again. So instead of keeping my fish I gave them to my nearest pet store before I moved. So now I am anxiously preparing for my upcoming purchases by reading everything I can on saltwater tanks. Any advice you can give me on initial tank preperations I'd glad to hear it. All I'm starting with is a 90 gallon tank with no top so I'll have to make my own. -- Dan DSCN1834.jpg |

| Tunicate | Re: First post Right now I'm definately set on setting up a FOWLR at the very least. I do want to set up a reef tank eventually. So I'd take any suggestions on the initial setup that would allow me to easily transition from a FOWLR to a full reef.... Or should I start with the mentality that I am setting up a reef tank for initial purchases? In the end I want some nice happy community tank fish where everything lives peacefully in as close to equilibrium as possible. (which is why I want the complete reef) -- Dan |

| Elegance coral | Re: First post I would start with a good sump and skimmer, return pump, some sort of overflow and some powerheads for water movement. This will get ya going. With a fowlr tank lighting wont be a concern right off the bat. Get some good test kits and the required amount of live rock. Spend the money on good equipment, it will save you money in the long run and make the journey more enjoyable...
