Checking in

I've written before, but alot has happened since then. I am seperated now, living now in an apartment. I managed to hold onto my 75 gal aquarium and stand. My plans now are to have a liverock w/ fish setup, the actual date has been put off for a bit. I have a couple of good filters, next will be a skimmer. Any suggestions of a good skimmer for 100 gal around $200? I do believe in getting more than I need in a filter and skimmer.

Re: Checking in

Hi Cap43! Good to have you back. I like the AquaC Remora Pro skimmers, they're hang on so they don't take up much room and they work great.

Re: Checking in

I wasn't going to do a sump, but I think I had better start looking into it. I was originally going to do a refugium. Can I combine the two?

Yes, it is possible to have a combo sump/refugium. Check out this link for some ideas.

You can purchase one or you can build one for yourself. Sumps and Refugiums are easy DIY projects.

Re: Checking in

I think I'll look into a refugium/sump to hang on the side of the tank or sit on a table on the side of the tank. The idea of trying to get under my main tank to clean the skimmer ... just doesn't seem to be a good idea. I can see that for my cannister filter, since that filter doesn't need that much attention. The skimmer, on the other hand, seems that it needs almost daily looking at.
