how is the flow in your tank? I had this issue myself, because there were several dead stops in my tank, when i moved and rearranged my scape, i don't see any more of it.
I have been fighting this algae for months water params all test normal have cut back on feeding and have lights on only a few days of the week anywhere from 4-6 hours a day. Anyone have any ideas?

What are your tank stats? Type of filtration? LiveStock?
Water change routine? Source water?
There are many things that could cause this problem, and sharing some common details would help.
Bottom line is the GHA is feeding off the water column and stopping its food source is the way to beat it.
Or grow the nuisance algae in a more controlled location ( Turf Scrubber).

Thank you everyone for making mistakes for me!!If you can relate.... your welcome.
I had a bad HA problem caused by using bottled water from grocery store. I got an RODIunit and also a blue tuxedo urchin, which eats about 1-2 square inches of hair algae every 2 days. Once he's hit a spot, the HA does not return

Are you using treated tap water, or filtering? What filter type if any?
Urchins wont likely make a dent in it, Turbo snails however will.
what do you have for Cleanup Crew?

Get a lettuce nudi. They are slow but can get the job done. But be warned they need perfect water quality and levels.

Maybe this will help you. You can DIY a UAS scrubber to eliminate the algae.
