| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Halimeda Growth . . . I don't know exactly where it came from but a couple of months ago I saw one small sprout on a piece of Live Rock that I've literally have for OVER a year with none of this on it. It started on the back of the rock away from direct light (contrary to what I've read about it requiring moderate to HIGH lighting). Well recently I noticed a lonely "sprig" of it on the front of the rock. In a few days it was a few sprigs and since it was in an easily "Captured" location I thought I'd take some pics to show just HOW quickly it grows. Here is the first decent pic I took ... it was 9/13/2008 I'm talking about the rock section that's almost FACING the camera not the plant that's on the BACK of the rock towards the dark shady section of the tank ![]() then here it is again 9/14/2008 (1 day only) ![]() then here it is again 9/17/2008 (3 day's growth) ![]() then here it is again 9/19/2008 (2 day's growth) Notice the "Tiny white Ear" that's just starting to bud on the upper right leaf ![]() then here it is again 9/20/2008 (1 day's growth) Notice the "Ear" that's really starting to grow on the upper right leaf ![]() I'll try to keep this thread updated as I go along. It's amazing to see how quickly this rascal is growing.

It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!! | Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: Halimeda Growth . . . Thanks bro! I tested on Sunday (before water change) and it was at 420 which is lower than I'd like but the water change was "In Process".

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Halimeda Growth . . . Great growth shots Allen. Personally, I really like this macro algae. It grows very quickly and although it does require/use calcium, it is a good export of nutrients. You can also sell any extra to help fund your habit ![]()
