| Social Darwinism victim | Re: hair algae good or bad? Well I have some intertwined with teh chaeto and some other macros. Doesn't seem to hurt anything and yeah teh pods like it better than the others I think. I do have to weed it a little, it grows a bit too much closer to the lights. I throw it in the DT and a separate 55g FOWLER which both have tangs. They appreciate the treat. ![]()

| Reef Lobster | Re: hair algae good or bad? I don't have any issues with hair algae as long as it isn't in the display tank, thats just me though. Some on a rock, in the fuge, is OK and a good way to keep what it feeds on in check. I like micro algae in the display, just not hair algae. Living where I am, I have an endless supply of beautiful red and green algae to choose from, so my tangs and other fish that I refer to as leaf eaters, really get all they can handle. I don't have a fuge on my 55, the micros go right in the tank. But, I have eradicated hair from the 55 because I, just don't care to look at it. The 90 and 120 both had fuges and I kept rock with hair in them, like Kathy said, the pods like the hair algae. I am not sure they prefer it better than others though, I would see as just many on the other red or green algae that I have kept. I don't think cheato is their #1 preference though, when other forms of algae are present. |
