Re: What eats macro?

Type of macro algae makes a difference.
My coral beauty angel grazes pretty good, but doesn't eat everything.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: What eats macro?

I don't know the species, its green, about 1/4 of an inch, and has little bristles/pointy things on the edges not really visable in the pic

Re: What eats macro?

I think Mithrax crabs would be your best bet. Most fish that are great herbivors would be too big for your system. Juvenile Mithrax (emerald) crabs are herbivorous, but watch them as they mature as their diet tends to shift more carnivorous.

Re: What eats macro?

it looks like bryopsis to me. a hard to remove pest. I would try the smallest algae blenny you can find or if you can remove the rock remove and scrub it but before putting it back to the tank dip it in freshwater. DO NOT try to remove it from inside the tank for it will spread like a weed. when disturbed by pulling it will release seeds into the water. HTH

Re: What eats macro?

Get a sea hare and say goodbye to your macro. I had a 3 inch sea hare in my macro tank once, fed it an ounce of caulerpa a week. Gone, then it started eating all the other kinds of macro I liked, so I donated him to the LFS. Just be careful as there are risks associated with sea hares.

Re: What eats macro?

I bought a frag with that algae on the rock. kept putting the rock up, the tangs kept knocking it down. once they ate all the algae the lefy it alone.
