Live Phytoplankton

I was at a store up in Columbus the other day... they had this bottle of stuff in this little fridge and it said it was live phytoplankton.

Could I use this to culture my own?
I've seen where you can buy these kits to make them... do I need something like that?

I'm getting more SPS and was wondering if they need something like that.
Right now, I feed my tank Selcon and Cyclopeeze every few days... not both at once, but staggered.

Re: Live Phytoplankton

I am pretty sure that a kit could be helpful. If anything it will come with more "eggs" or whatever to help cultivate them. I am thinking of setting up a 10g to cultivate them in my system. Let me know if you find any more info.

Re: Live Phytoplankton

There's a few good sites that shows how to culture phyto...

The simplest one was using a 2 litre pop bottle, fill with saltwater, a pinch or miracle grow with airhose running... 16 hour light to 8 hour dark cycle... the site I went to showed how the culture went from a light green to drak green (higher concentration). The he just kept splitting the culture running 2 bottles all the time. 1 in the fridge for feedind and one culturing...
