New stock at ILC

We just got in four hundred pieces of coral as well as several hundred fish of which some are Helfrichi fire fish and mystery wrasses. You have to see it to believe it!!!

Re: New stock at ILC

How well do your systems handle adding all of that livestock at once?
You must have crazy spikes in your water quality. Most LFS's can't handle that big of a bioload at one time.
Please respond.

Re: New stock at ILC

Well without their response I can tell you it is a huge store. I went there recently and have never seen so many tanks etc. This has to help. I expect they will add more info, but the old dilution is the solution to polution is obviously at work in this case. There are several pics on the original ILC thread from when they opened that can five you an idea of what I mean.

Re: New stock at ILC

It seems that ILC must have the best filtration system of any LFS on the East Coast for this to be possible.
I have seen their invert system, and it is impressive.
It is unheard of to put 400 corals into a system, of that size, all at once without having a major crash.

Re: New stock at ILC

I heard that they added 100 boxes to the fish system in 1 day, and the ammonia barely spiked.
Damn, that must have been built by a full blown expert!!!!
Hats off to In Living Color

Re: New stock at ILC

Let me first say sorry for not responding when your messages were first submited. I have been tied down with very large installs and fish orders. As far as the filtration goes, I must admit that we have what is in my opinion, the best system we could have assembled in the space. It is true that we have been able to put massive amounts of livestock into our systems without any spikes or losses larger than 1%. Our system, however, is not our original system. When we first opened we had major issues with water flow and maintaining levels that would keep our animals happy. As a result, I replumbed the entire filtration system as well as tore the store apart one row at a time until the entire store was remodled. Since this we have not had any major incidents no matter how far we test the biological. Moreover, as far as the additions we make, we keep on hand literally thousands of coral and probably a hundred pounds of fish at all times so the orders that we place, though massive, would should not cause anything to go of the charts.

Re: New stock at ILC

Woodstock, our site is almost complete. At the time of completion we will be selling everything that we offer in livestock as well as dry goods at very competitive prices.
