Re: WTB: Live mud?

yeah i have heard of both my GF's dad really suggests it over the live rock, he's a very experienced reefer having been in the lifestyle for over 20years and his last tank was absolutly amazing(to bad he had to sell it) so i do put my trust into his opinion but also i enjoy other peoples opinions and the reasonings for it.

Re: WTB: Live mud?

I wonder if it's something like GARF's "Miracle Mud". I plan to possibly run some in my next fuge because I'm going to do a Mangrove set up too.

Keep us posted.

Re: WTB: Live mud?

ive heard of miracle mud and i've not heard enough good things to out weigh the bad things, the best i've found this stuff for is like refugium mineral mud from liveaquaria.com itsa 24.99 for 1 gallon worth which is much better than the 45 that i found in a bag for like 5lbs worth of gravel size

Re: WTB: Live mud?

Just thought I would post...

I am starting my fuge and I am seriously considering using the Miracle Mud. I have just come back from a trip to FL and found the most amaing LFS (eCO rEEF aQUARIUM.) All of their systems are running Miracle Mud with Algae/caluerpa inside. Everything is stunning! The owner Larry was very informative and did not hesitate to explain why he uses the mud and how to use it on my system. I believe that I am going to give it a try. It just may be worth the money.

I'm actually in the process of setting of a refugium as well. Can you use a combination of mineral mud & live sand? Is there any preferred method for using both?

Re: WTB: Live mud?

I will send you some live mud, via priority flat rate for $11. ($9 for shipping, $2 for driving to the post office). Now what type of consistency are you looking for? I can get mud flats type mud, (like quicksand if you step into it, and makes a suction sound when you pull your foot out) as well as sandier varieties. Let me know if you are still looking by emailing me.

Re: WTB: Live mud?

nothing against johnmaloney but personally i would go with caribsea's mineral mud as it is certain to not contain any polutents and possess the minerals and trace elements that you are looking for on top it contains grains as fine as sugar asnd large ones as well

Re: WTB: Live mud?

I sent out what I could for live mud seed. It came from one of my established refugiums I was breaking down. CarribSea is a great company, operates a big strip mine near my house and tears up the wetlands to get you that high quality sand straight from nature. But you should never go out and catch your own sand, let them do it for you they have the proper permits.
