I would not imagine I need a ton AL, just enought to get the growing started in my skimmer.

Skimmer, I have a bakpak skimmer and it was suggested by a member to use it in my skimmer.

I'm not really sure about the "skimmer/cheato" thing. Cheato is going to really "alter" water/airflow inside of your skimmer which will directly affect the efficiency of your skimmer.

I will be "thinning" my cheato in a couple of weeks and would be glad to send you what I get out at that time.

AL, Jack is the one that suggested I do this as he does this with his bakpak.

Ok well from Jack I would imagine he has a GOOD handle on it from every aspect. Once I "trim" my cheato I'll let you know and I can ship it up to you.

i dont know but i think maybe, jack is putting his cheato in the pakbaks' media area and not directly in the skimmer.

I am curious whats being done for light in this skimmer cheato idea. If cheato has no light it doesn't grow. If it doesn't grow then it's useless.

Actually, it is directly in the skimmer. It is in the overflow area. I want it to get more light (as well as the corals because it is a propagation take as well); therefore, I am changing the 70 mh fixture to a clip on or pendent 150 mh.

As far as how it is working, seems to be doing well.
