Shrimp, Cleaners or ?

About a month/six weeks ago I noticed a TON of baby shrimp in my refugium. My two cleaners hang out near the PH that pumps up to it. Is it possible for them to have released the eggs, and the eggs to have hatched unharmed once they were in there? I've been feeding them cyclops and some micro food that I had. They are growing but I can't tell (because their sooo small) if their cleaners or not. Everything I've read says that raising cleaners has never been done or done with very little success. These guys are doing great! I'll try to take pics tomorrow, the lights are out right now. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. If their not cleaners, where did they come from? I haven't added anything new to the tank for quite a while so it's not possible they came in on anything alse. Also about 2 weeks before I noticed them my cleaners disappeared. I do have a little lobster in my reef that I suspect (no evidence) is eating my fish one by one. I'm in the process of making a trap to catch him. I think he/she must have gotten them.

they are definately not pods. Unless there are pods I've never seen before that look exactally like little tiny shrimp.

Re: Shrimp, Cleaners or ?

My cleaner shrimp have spawned in my tank. They release the live larvae not eggs. Mine lived for about 24 hours before they all died. It would be really cool if yours are indeed baby cleaners. They take a long time to grow up though. That's one of the problems people trying to breed them have. If they aren't cleaners, maybe mysid shrimp. I know a guy who has mysid shrimp that seasonally have population booms in his tank for some reason.

Re: Shrimp, Cleaners or ?

Are they floating in the water or on the substrate or glass? Cleaner shrimp larvae would float.

Re: Shrimp, Cleaners or ?

I never saw them floating. They swim all over the place. I'm going to see if I can get a pic now.

Re: Shrimp, Cleaners or ?

ok this is the best shot I can get right now. I don't know where I put my macro lenses and don't have time to look right now. I have to be at work in an hour and still need to jump in the shower.

If they are mysis, how big do they get?

For something that's suppose to be relaxing, you sure seem aggravated!

Why are your clownfish black and white? Were they cheaper because they're the wrong color?

sticking with the 29 gallon!
