I initially wanted the flexible hose so I could remove them if needed to access the external return pump....but I really don't think it is necessary. I can still reach the pump good enough.
Woodstock, just a bit of warning. Twenty amp outlets cost much more than 15 amp outlets. Twenty amp outlets are not standardly used in residential applications. They are typically only used for commercial installations. An example: A twenty amp GFI outlet at Home Depot would cost over $20 each, but 15 amp GFI outlets can be bought on sale all over for $5 each or occasionally less. A high quality 20 amp outlet by a firm like Hubbell (top of the line commercial) will run over $20 and not even be a GFI outlet. I use 20 amp hospital grade outlets from Hubbell that sell retail for $29 each online and $36 each through alocal store. No I did not pay retail But bought many of them at auction.

The cheapest and still safe method of installing outlets is to install 12 gauge wiring that will easily handle 20 amps, but use a standard 15 amp breaker and use a 15 amp GFI outlet as the first outlet in your series of outlets (this means all in the series will have GFI protection). A 15 amp GFI circuit breaker will provide no better protection than a 15 amp GFI outlet but would cost many times more. A 15 amp GFI circuit breaker wil run from $35 to $65 each, depending on the type and brand. Yes there are different types of GFI circuit breakers. There are three types.

You will know a 20 amp outlet when you see one because they have a special outlet that will allow a high wattage 20 amp piece of equipment top be plugged into it. These plugs are on a lot of restaurant equipment, hospital eqipment and commercial equipment. One of the outlet prongs is turned sideways on a 20 amp plug. this means a 20 amp outlet has one hole that looks like a T turned sise ways, so as to alow the use of standard plugs or high wattage 20 amp plugs.

Yes all that I have written meets electrical codes. Do not expect an electrician to explain how he can put in differing systems for differing amounts without being asked, and even then most electricians will not be honest with you but will just want install what makes them the most money or what is most commonly installed and they are used to doing. To do any thing other than what is common typically calls for them to be having to follow engineered blue prints which they all hate to do and typically they resent having to do.

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

No problem. I do require a pretty big protein skimmer though.

New Octopus DDNW 250 skimmer!

I purchased my new Octopus DDNW 250 skimmer from NCGuy and set it up today.
I first had to build a stand for it. Yes, I built it all by myself

This monster skimmer is already pulling out some super nasty skimmate only after a few minutes! I think I have found a new favorite skimmer

The sump beside it is a 100 gallon Brute sump. You can see how large the skimmer is compared to it.

Re: Grow out system?

Looks great!!! You did a good job on the stand too. When you said that you were building the stand I thought it would be just a stack of Better Homes and Gardens mags or something. Very nice....I like it
