Re: Grow out system?

Well, I went ahead and ordered the lighting system tonight. I found a complete 4 bulb T-5 retro set: including (all new) IC 660, wiring harness, power plug, heat sink, 8 endcaps, standoffs, and reflectors for $280 with free shipping (marine depot). I also ordered four T-5 10k bulbs. That should light all 10 tanks well enough since the tanks are side by side. If not, I can always order another set.
I was trying to find used but most people wanted close to (or more) than $100 for a used IC660 but you can get them new for $124 (ballast, heatsink, wiring harness).... so I got all new stuff.

Re: Grow out system?

In Australia the population of Clown fish , in areas allowing harvest, is down 75 percent over those areas not allowing harvest. Yes you can make a difference, all the while enjoying your self immensely!

I was thinking about that the other day. be cool to get a two level down town shop like we have a lot of here, turn the basement into breeding and maybe wholesale under a different name, turn the first level into a "captive raised only (or mostly if thats not possible) shop..

Re: Grow out system?

Captive bred is the way to go. Ad an aquaculture facility as well and then we can add lots of corals and clams.

Re: Grow out system?

you guys should all move to mankato so we can work together at it :P'

I always buy tank raised/aquacultured when I can. its more used to the tank and doesn't involve taking something from its home in the wild. I like that.
