is'nt the Painting the bottom balck for the parents not to see the babies? I thought clownfish protected their kids.

Painting, or covering the bottom is to give the little buggers orientation of which way is up.

Most of the books say to cover the sides of the nursery with black and use white under the bottom of the tank so cleaning is easier.
The side black coverings can be removed several weeks later.
