Re: Rearing Picasso Percula Clownfish!

You really are amazing Woodstock!!!! It is just awesome that you are rasing so many little clowns. And Now you are to the part where culling is necessary. Culling does not mean killing. And I know you could not kill these little baby clownfish. I know I couldnt. So from your Picasso Clown business comes another. Doni's Disabled Clowfish Center. You can send little baby clownfish all accros the country. You will be known for your cute little Grade A Picassos. And for your Disabled Picassos. Your whole marketing ploy can be as follows:
Why by a healthy clown from the large fish hatcheries, who "dispose" of hundreds of healthy clowns with small defects. Why should a clown be disposed of just because his jaw is crooked, or because he looks funny.
When you can buy From Woodstocks's Humane Clown Hatchery. Buy from Mamma Clown, cause when your a Mamma you dont get rid of your kids cause they are not perfect.

People will buy from you, because you are an ethical clown breeder.

By the way I have a few small tanks around the house. If you are ever up this way let me know. You can have them. I also have a few other things that may be useful for you little babies. I am not using them, you can have all of it if you want. I also have a 12 gallon aqua-pod that I have removed the false wall from. Just let me know if you are interested.

Re: Rearing Picasso Percula Clownfish!

This is a very interesting conversation. Because you are talking about culling defects, when the Picasso colouring is obviously a "defect" in the first place. It is the exact same anomaly as the white boxer. Just in this case you are aiming to breed in the defect.

It is an interesting dilemma. As was mentioned if there are no health issues associated (eg, trouble eating) then is there an issue? It is more the issue that we find the Picasso colouring aesthetically pleasing but not the over bite.

Food for thought....

Jeff.

Last I heard I believe she was predicting 6 months. I can guarantee she won't let thme go until she is reasonably sure of their survival.

Re: Rearing Picasso Percula Clownfish!

It was several pages back. This thread moves so fast it is hard to keep up. I just thought I remembered her answering so I starred looking back. Gave me a chance to review the pics which is always fun. I love watching the babies grow up.

Hey Doni, just for the heck of it, could you post a pic of what the mouth is SUPPOSED to look like? I'm watching MiniMoe adn wondering if he's got an overbite now.

Edit: Never mind!!! Page 54'll do. ... Lucky's not THAT bad.
