in the wild, they have pretty strong flow. Good luck rearing them!

Goldenmean beat me too it. As soon as I saw your bunny I said wait that is snoopy. I wasn't even thinking about the Woodstock connection.
Haven't seen Vicki's V lately. Is it just hiding or did the markings change?
Everybody looks great. There are some awesome markings.
It is about time Dallas made an appearance. We need to hear from daddy occasionally.

How to harvest/feed rotifers?

Someone asked me this question in PM and I wanted to share my answer. I know there are many ways to do harvest rotifers but this is how I do it...

I try to follow reed-mariculture's rotifer culturing information.

To view the rotifers, I use a small clear plastic vial, fill it up about 1/3 to 1/2 way (about 5-8 mil) then view the rotifers using a hand held 10x magnifying glass.
I can determine the culture density and health of the culture using this magnifying glass. It is not as good as a microscope but is very handy and allows me to see them at a glance.

To collect rotifers, I pour 1/3 of the culture through a rotifer seive and then replace with new salt water. To feed the filtered rotifers to your babies, simply turn the seive upside down and pour fresh saltwater (tankwater) through it. Never pour your the rotifer water into the fry tank. NOTE: In a pinch, you can use coffee filters.

I like to put enough rotifers into the newly hatched fry tank so that there are at least 2 rotifers per body length of fry.
When you add algae to the fry tank, you will notice that the rotifers will begin multiplying there too. This is called co-culturing and you may even need to thin out the rotifers after a few days if you do not have enough babies to keep the rotifer population down. To check the density, I just scoop a few mil into the clear plastic vial and view them using the 10x mag glass... then add more or thin-out as needed.

Just wondering, I am no where near to this experience. Great looking kidos!!!!
Yes, you do need to remove the eggs or collect them the night of the hatch. The parents will eat them once they are free swimming and an pump or powerhead will kill them.
Some prefer to collect the babies the night of the hatch directly from the main display instead of removing the eggs prior to hatch.

Yes, the markings changed on the "V" baby. The white spread more.

A percentage is impossible to say right now as the tail stripe has not developed yet but so far they are showing some great coloration

I like the V and it was perfect for Vicki. Guess that is what happens with babies. They grow up and look completely different.
Everybody looks awesome.
When is the next hatch?

I know... their white keeps spreading in some places. I hope the 'snoopy' baby stays the same

Spawn#7 was laid yesterday so they will be hatching out next Tuesday, 8-18.

Re: Rearing Picasso Percula Clownfish!

Very cool. I hope Snoopy stays as well. I am guessing if he does you will keep that one. Snoopy has to stay with Woodstock. There is just no other option.

Spawn#3 at 44 days old

Spawn #3 is 44 days old now.
There are some that are much larger than the rest! I will begin sorting them by size once I get my grow-out system up and running.

Thanks Sandy

SeaMonkey, congrats on deciding to raise your own But be forwarned, it is very addictive! You'll want to hatch EVERY egg in EVERY spawn!
