Sorry for the delay! Ironically, I was out eating sushi with my husband

Great idea but for some reason I get a headache when I think about it. LOL

I can't believe how fast they're growing up Doni! Looks like you will have plenty of Picasso's in there too, I'll be really interested to see how it comes out.
I don't get it either... I thought after that movie that people would boycott fish stores.

Seems like your babies are making some internet noise. Very cool!
I try to get pics that aren't extremely blurry but it is most difficult. Especially when they eat nauplli (newly hatched brine)... then they act like they're on crack and won't slow down at all!

Keep up the good work! One day I would lov to try and raise any kinda baby clowns.

May I ask what are the chances of getting a Picasso pair to mate and lay eggs?
Thanks Added your name!
The chances are very good that most young pairs of clowns will pair up and mate. Give them good water quality and an excellent diet and they will spawn eventually.

Very nice pair breefcase! Actually, I wouldn't mind trading but right now I have no aquarium space to spare Ask me again later

Possibly. But remember there are many types of 'sushi' besides raw marine fish... Like Unagi - my all time favorite which is fresh water eel. YUM!

Yeah, but can't beat good Toro (Hard to find around here ). But my favorite is ironically something many of us have, Mirugai (Giant Clam).

DONI, you hae convinced me to try rotifer diet...ill keep my phyto going in case of emergency all 7 2-liters and 5 gallon carboy , what is your rotifers consuming daily and how lng does your 1 liter bag last. Mine are roughly 5-6 gallons each and consume a decent dark culture 2-liter of phyto per day...they are pigs
also got wilkersons book coming on the way and i cant wait to read it as well as a bunch of supplies like decap brine and thay fry tank cleaning wand is really neat im gonna try it out too

Re: Rearing Picasso Percula Clownfish!

I just scanned the entire thread... great job. You are by the book following Joyce's lead. I too just started breeding clowns and my second hatch will be tonight. I have 40 left from the first hatch and are 12 days old. I started my thread on Marinebreeder.org from day one so if someone is so inclined, they can read about the work that goes into clown breeding when starting with nothing as I did. Marine Ornamental Fish & Invert Breeders :: View topic - Clown Hatchery Blog

One note on the rotifers... add a sponge filter in their buckets. It does wonders. And I too think my live phyto in the fry tank on days 1 and 2 is what killed 2/3rd of the larvae. Reeds Insant Algae from then on and no losses. I may have to get me a pair of picasso's. Everything I read was that 90% of the babies will be normal looking. I'm interested to see if thats just mis information to keep the value up

Welcome to The Clown Hatchery
