Clownfish spawning / larvae development

Today I finally caught the little rabbits in the act and was able to get some photos and a movie of them doing so. Without fail, I get a new batch of eggs out of them every ten days! If I was not so busy with a shrimp project, I would raise them, as it is now, that project will have to wait a few more months.

Clownfish Spawning and Egg / Larvae Development

Enjoy!

Chuck

Re: Clownfish spawning / larvae development

Hi Lynn,

Thanks, and I ran into a problem with the kreisel, with the amount of larvae and food, it was a nightmare trying to keep the water quality up and were losing the larvae much too quickly. So I redesigned the whole thing and had another built that has a great amount of filtration on it. Am just waiting for it to cycle in the hopes it will be ready by the 23rd, which is when I expect the next batch of larvae.

This is the new kreisel, which I have also added a light and some chaeto (algae) to the filtration section. The old kreisel only have 1/8th the filter area than this one. Am keeping my fingers crossed!

Re: Clownfish spawning / larvae development

Any updates Chuck?

My picasso clowns are preparing to spawn and I am entertaining the thought of rearing some of their fry. I am currently researching how to grow phyto cultures and rotifer cultures.
