| Acropora ![]() | Re: It Finally Happened! Here is an update, I started my cultures and have 4 bottles ready to split again. If my calculations are right the clowns will lay again either today or tomorrow (as long as they keep on schedule). Hopefully this time they will keep the eggs to hatch, that will give me a time period between laying and hatch night. So if all goes well two weeks from tomorrow I should have another hatch that I will be prepared for to attempt rearing.

| Acropora ![]() | Re: It Finally Happened! The females belly is larger and they are actively cleaning the tile (nest site), they also say that the females ova depositor will show but I have never observed this. They also get more aggressive toward other fish (chasing them off).

| Acropora ![]() | Re: It Finally Happened! As predicted at 5:30 pm EST today my clowns are spawning again. The eggs seem larger then before and a larger nest again. At this point in time they are still laying eggs.

| Acropora ![]() | Re: It Finally Happened! That's the whole key, once they do have a viable spawn I will watch it and time the hatch so that I know how long it is between spawn and hatch. Then next time they spawn I will remove them the night before the hatch and hatch them in another tank.

| Acropora ![]() | Re: It Finally Happened! I'm trying to keep it updated as much as I can. I am also taking notes on dates, times and behaviour events as they happen or are observed. I've also included foods, feeding times, lighting, temp, etc to get an accurate record for my reference in the future. Once I get to where I am successfully raising clowns I am going to attempt other species as well. I have two neon gobies that seem to be mated as well.... plus my chromis are spawning at about the same rate as the clowns are (every 14 days).

| Acropora ![]() | Re: It Finally Happened! Thanks all, I also have some other plans in the works. I am starting the plans for a set of grow out tanks for the babies (if I ever get to that point). I have been working with acrylic and am getting pretty good at it, so the tanks I am designing will be all plumbed together with a large sump full of live rock. Going to keep the tanks themselves bare for ease of cleaning.

| Acropora ![]() | Re: It Finally Happened! Thanks Doni. Here is an update and what I am going to attempt. First the clowns laid their third clutch and proceeded to consume them once again. So I spoke to a local reefer that raises clowns and has been quite successful at it. He suggested I go ahead and remove the next clutch before they have a change to eat them. So I started my rotifer culture and phytoculture. The next thing I have come across is my two neon gobies have paired so I will be watching them. I have done some research on goby breeding and it doesn't seem to be any more detailed then clown rearing. Only trick is to get them to lay eggs where you can remove them. I also have chromis that are laying eggs on a regular basis, problem with those is they are laying on the rock. So that may be another attempt but for now I will stick with the clowns, then move on to the gobies...
