Honestly? It looks like cheap Chinese-made crap.

My heatsink alone weighs twice as much as their entire unit and that's one of the first places these guys cut their costs because quality aluminum heatsinks aren't cheap. I doubt they spent the money to put quiet fans in there either. How they attached the LED's is also questionable because you want a thermal adhesive to bond the LED star to the heatsink for best heat transfer. The life-span and efficiency of LED's is directly related to the temperature they run at.

The 14 day warranty indicates they have no confidence in their product other than to work upon arrival. And they aren't in the US so what are your options when it does fail?

Another design that touts the benefits multiple color LED's but only has 2 dimmable channels...

No-name LED's that are being driven at a much lower current of 450ma than just about every other brand, didn't see any options for optics.

I could go on but you get my point by now. Generally speaking you get what you pay for.

Without naming brands of the LED's i'd suspect them of cheap knockoffs. Check the satisfaction guarantee and return policy. Companies that are proud of their products often guarantee them for 30-60 days for satisfaction and offer full refunds minus shipping.

No need to beat a dead horse here, I think these guys covered it. My biggest thing with led unit manufacturers is that if you're not going to name the LEDs, then don't bother making/selling it as a reef light. Name brand versus generic is huge and I think (hope) most reefers are catching on. Cree, bridgelux and the like are all "good enough" but the others are not worth your time and money.

Larry all I can say is

Honestly you pretty much get what you pay for and LED isn't the CHEAP way to go. Buy cheap you'll probably buy several times over.

Hang in there and I don't think anyone is getting tired of your questions at all

As for LEDs you have to invest in a good one. I have a good one for a year now and the corals love it....the tank has done real well. You should not skimp two major equipment components. Protein Skimmer and Lighting.

Save your money. If you want LED lighting for a reef tank buy a quality fixture with 3 or 5 watt Cree leds. You can save some money with a DIY fixture but buy a quality kit or components it will save you money in the long run. Rapidled.com has some nice kits as does several other places.
